The Iron Mountain Veterans Affairs Medical Center is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The organization provides primary care at the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center as well as at clinics in Hancock, Menominee, Marquette, Ironwood, and Sault Saint Marie, Michigan; and Rhinelander, Wisconsin.   Over 17,000 veterans in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northeastern Wisconsin rely upon the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center and Clinics for their health care. Three hundred fifty staff, including 23 physicians and over 100 nurses, provide primary and selected secondary care. Volunteers provide a wide variety of services.

The Iron Mountain facility has 17 acute care beds, 40 nursing home beds, 12 hoptel beds, and 7 beds for use by outpatient substance abuse patients. In addition to primary care and inpatient services, the Iron Mountain VAMC provides audiology and speech pathology, cardiology, ENT, general surgery, urology, geriatrics, intensive coronary care unit (ICCU), nephrology, oncology, optometry, ophthalmology, orthopedics, podiatry, pulmonary function testing, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team (PCT), Mental Health Service, and Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SATP).  A monitored sleep study laboratory was established in partnership with VAH Madison. VAMC Iron Mountain is a leader in advanced telemedicine programs, including a remote control dynamic telepathology system. Referrals for tertiary medical and surgical care are made primarily to VAMCs in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin.
