The Iron Mountain facility has 17 acute care beds, 40 nursing home beds, 12 hoptel beds, and 7 beds for use by outpatient substance abuse patients. In addition to primary care and inpatient services, the Iron Mountain VAMC provides audiology and speech pathology, cardiology, ENT, general surgery, urology, geriatrics, intensive coronary care unit (ICCU), nephrology, oncology, optometry, ophthalmology, orthopedics, podiatry, pulmonary function testing, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team (PCT), Mental Health Service, and Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SATP). A monitored sleep study laboratory was established in partnership with VAH Madison. VAMC Iron Mountain is a leader in advanced telemedicine programs, including a remote control dynamic telepathology system. Referrals for tertiary medical and surgical care are made primarily to VAMCs in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin.
