Audiology and Speech Pathology
Welcome to the North Chicago VA Medical Center Audiology and Speech
Pathology Services Information page. The NCVA Audiology and Speech
Pathology Staff evaluate and treat both inpatients and outpatients of the North
Chicago VA Medical Center.
Our goals are to improve hearing, speech, language, memory,
and swallowing function.
Our mission is to enhance the patient's quality of life by improving
their overall communicative functioning.
All audiologists, speech pathologists, and health technicians are state
licensed and certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing
Association, and adhere to the ASHA Code of Ethics.
Audiology Clinic Availability
Audiologists are available for audiological evaluations,
hearing aid issues and fittings by appointment from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday
through Friday
A daily Audiology Warranty Clinic is available by
appointment for hearing aid adjustment and minor repairs.
Warranty appointments are brief with 10-15 minutes only, for each
patient. Veterans must call to reserve a time for attending Warranty
Clinic.
Patients interested in receiving a hearing
evaluation are advised to request services through their Primary
Care physician. Patients are encouraged to contact the
Audiology Clinic for their appointments.
Speech Pathology Clinic Availability
Speech pathologists are available for speech, language,
swallowing, voice, and memory evaluations and therapy sessions by appointment, Monday
through Friday, 8 AM through 4:30 PM.
Patients interested in speech/language or swallowing evaluations are
advised to request services through their Primary Care physician. The
physician will forward a consult to our service. Our staff will call to schedule a time for completing the
requested evaluation.
